PROGRAM
The Steppingstone Scholars Program prepares motivated urban schoolchildren for acceptance and success at 
top college preparatory schools in the Greater Philadelphia region. After gaining admission to the Program, Scholars participate in a rigorous academic preparation component that spans 14 months. After completing the 14-month academic program, Steppingstone provides comprehensive support services, including college counseling, through middle and high school.

Family Commitment
Steppingstone admits families, not just Scholars. Steppingstone’s multi-year commitment to each child and family means that parents or guardians are involved in the process from the moment they fill out an application until the Scholar’s graduation from high school. Because of their experience, families who have participated in the program with one child frequently apply again with younger siblings.
Partnership with Placement Schools
Steppingstone works closely with college preparatory schools which are designated Steppingstone placement schools.The commitment placement schools make to Steppingstone Scholars reflects their interest in becoming more inclusive educational communities. Steppingstone remains an active source of support for scholars through high school.
